In 2010 Studio Egret West were appointed by the London Borough of Islington to develop a framework for initiating change in the Archway District Centre in order to generate a positive shift in the way local residents, users and workers in and around the town centre regard, utilise and engage with Archway District Centre. The approach taken has been split into two strands of work.

Archway is a diverse yet cohesive community set in North London. The district centre today contains a mix of uses. It is a major interchange for buses and the northern line tube, a significant employment and commercial hub, a civic centre for the community, a local high street and an evening destination.

The first looks at minor interventions (with around a £500,000 budget) that could make a positive impact on the public experience. The second looks at major interventions (up to £5,000,000) that encompass the possibilities of reconfiguring the ingredients in the study area to improve the economic and social outlook for the community.
