We won a Housing Design Award 2012 last night for the Gatefold Building, the first phase of our Old Vinyl Factory masterplan in Hayes.
The jury specifically highlighted the project’s holistic green credentials within a place specific architecture that avoids shouting about it’s sustainability. Features picked out for praise included the achievement of 100% dual aspect apartments, double height gallery access which maximises daylighting, the generous 2.8m floor to ceiling height and the ample recessed balconies. In addition, the integration of a community café / meeting space, affordable workspace for small businesses and the bespoke playground were seen as a good foundation for social sustainability.
The Gatefold Building follows in the footsteps of the Library Building, Clapham which won a Housing Design Award in 2010.
